Abstract: In 1988 Reaven described polymorphic metabolic abnormalities involving the incidence of insulin resistance with compensatory hyperinsulinemia, type 2 diabetes mellitus, arterial hypertension and hypercholesterolemia also known as Reaven's syndrome or syndrome X.
