Abstract:Background: The burden of cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) is increasing worldwide with CVD being one of the leading causes of death, including atherosclerosis, myocardial infarction, cardiomyopathy, and heart failure (HF). Fibroblast growth factor 21 (FGF21) is an endocrine hormone that regulates carbohydrate and lipid metabolism.
