The Danish EQ-5D-5L Value Set: A Hybrid Model Using cTTO and DCE Data

Abstract: Objectives Quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs) are expected to be used for priority setting of hospital-dispensed medicines in Denmark from 2021. The aim of this study was to develop the first Danish value set for the EQ-5D-5L based on interviews with a representative sample of the Danish adult population. Methods A nationally representative sample based on age (> 18 years), gender, education, and geographical region was recruited using data provided by Statistics Denmark. “…At 30 days, health-related quality of life was assessed using the EuroQol 5 Dimension 5 Level (EQ-5D-5L) and indexed based on Danish data. 14,15 The results from the EQ-5D-5L are reported both as the numeric value directly assessed by the patient and as the indexed value. The numeric value is reported on a scale from 0 to 100, with higher scores indicating a better health-related quality of life, while the indexed value can also be negative.…”

“…The MIC survey contains 7933 observations from six countries (Australia, Canada, Germany, Norway, the United Kingdom, and the United States) and includes a representative healthy group and seven disease groups (Richardson et al., 2012). As a Norwegian value set for the EQ‐5D‐5L is not presently available, we employed the recently published Danish EQ‐5D‐5L value set (Jensen et al., 2021) to measure QALY weights. In addition to EQ‐5D‐5L, the survey records several variables, including age, sex, and household income.…”
