The deuterium-impurity interaction and the grain boundary embrittlement in nickel

Abstract: Sulphur and carbon grain boundary segregations are studied by Auger spectroscopy. Differently heat‐treated samples are electrolytically deuterium doped and fractured by tension in the chamber of a special Auger spectrometer. The deuterium content is calculated on grain boundaries in the frame of Guttmann's formal approach taking into account the interatomic interaction in 2HSC complex segregation.
