The development of a reliable change index and cutoff score for the SCORE‐15

Abstract: The Systemic Clinical Outcome and Routine Evaluation version 15 (SCORE‐15) is a measure used to assess family‐level change in family therapy. The SCORE‐15 has been demonstrated to be a reliable and valid measure, with high clinical utility; however, the SCORE‐15 lacks the ability to determine whether the change in family functioning during the course of therapy is clinically significant. This study aimed to establish a reliable change index (RCI) and clinical cutoff score so that researchers and clinicians can… Show more

“…The total score is the most commonly used in research (Carr & Stratton, 2017). Total scores range from 15 to 75, with lower scores associated with better functioning and scores higher than 40 indicating clinical distress (Miller et al, 2023).…”

“…There are several published papers about adapting the family SCORE-15 for various specific groups, languages and cultures for clinical and research purposes (for example, Limsuwan & Prachason, 2021;Teh et al, 2017;Teh & Lek, 2018). There are also studies addressing the scale's reliability, validity and clinical cutoff points (for example, Fay et al, 2013;Miller et al, 2022). Miller et al (2022) proposed the clinical cutoff to be at least a total average score of 2.72 out of 5.00 or a total score of 40.37 out of 75.00.…”
