The Difference in Molecular Orientation and Interphase Structure of SiO2/Shape Memory Polyurethane in Original, Programmed and Recovered States during Shape Memory Process

Abstract: In order to further understand the shape memory mechanism of a silicon dioxide/shape memory polyurethane (SiO2/SMPU) composite, the thermodynamic properties and shape memory behaviors of prepared SiO2/SMPU were characterized. Dynamic changes in the molecular orientation and interphase structures of SiO2/SMPU during a shape memory cycle were then discussed according to the small angle X-ray scattering theory, Guinier’s law, Porod approximation, and fractal dimension theorem. In this paper, a dynamic mechanical … Show more

“…Crystalline hydrogels consist of a tightly packed polymer network structure with the order of crystallization. Semi-crystalline hydrogels were developed by chemical crosslinking in 1994, which contains the amorphous and crystalline regions [49][50][51][52]. After this time, physical crosslinked semi-crystalline hydrogels have been prepared through bulk and micellar polymerization [80][81][82][83].…”

“…Interestingly, the presence of NPs improves the ordering of the lamellae after programming compared to others. 64,65 This is to mention that Bragg reflections are predominantly visible at 901 to the print/programming direction. The corresponding 1dimensional data (1D SAXS, Fig.…”

“…Crystalline hydrogels, on the other hand, consist of a polymer network structure that exhibits a certain degree of crystallization . In 1994, chemical cross-linking was used to create the first semicrystalline hydrogels, which contain both amorphous and crystalline regions. , Physical cross-linking techniques, such as bulk and micellar polymerization, have been employed to produce semicrystalline hydrogels . The ability of semicrystalline physical hydrogels to rapidly transition from a solid-like state to a liquid-like state is one of their distinguishing characteristics.…”
