Abstract:We investigate the magnetism and optical absorption properties of charge neutral hexagonal graphene quantum dots (GQDs) terminated with zigzag edges by using a tight-binding Hubbard type model for the ๐ electrons. Within the Hartree-Fock approximation and taking into account the long-range Coulomb interaction, our calculation yields a ferromagnetic ground state with magnetic moments localized on the edges for GQDs, and also gives an antiferromagnetism state with the energy very close to the ferromagnetism gro… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citationsโcitations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
