The effect of biofertilizer and nitrogen rates on quantitative and qualitative properties of strawberry cultivar 'Paros'

Abstract: In order to investigate the effect of EM (Effective Microorganisms) application and various nitrogen levels on qualitative and quantitative traits of strawberry cultivar 'Paros'. The layout of the experiment was based on randomized complete block with three replications. The research was conducted in an experimental planting of strawberry cv. 'Paros' at the University of Mohaghegh Ardabili, during 2014-2015. EM was used at four rates (0, 1, 2, and 3%) in two ways (soil and foliar application) and nitrogen was … Show more

“…The results followed the line of our 2019 findings. In addition, our results coincided with those obtained by Arancon et al, 2004;Malusa et al, 2007;Sas-Paszt et al, 2008;Smith and Read, 2008;Malusa and Sas-Paszt, 2009;Grzyb et al, 2012;Derkowska et al, 2015a;Einizadeh and Shokouhian, 2018;2020 a, b). They reported that using a solution of the commercial preparation "Effective Microorganisms" on strawberry plants of the cultivar 'Paros', obtained better parameters of fruit quality than in the control combination.…”

“…These outcomes might be related to improving and intensifying the physiological processes in plants that are responsible for resistance to abiotic and biotic stresses due to the application of FSM enriched with mineral fertilizers (Regvar et al, 2003;Corte et al, 2013;Wally et al, 2013;Einizadeh and Shokouhian, 2018;Mosa et al, 2021 c). Water stress like abiotic stress negatively affects both plant growth and fruiting (Corte et al, 2013).…”

“…Meanwhile, the best values (10.30 %, 0.59 %, and 60 mg/ 100 gm wet weights respectively) were recorded when biofertilizer Em1 (8 ml/l) was added in combination with seaweed extract Alga 600 (2 g/l). Similar results were obtained by [27] working on seaweed [15] working on extract and biofertilizer Em1. The promotion effect of seaweed extract and biofertilizers in increasing total soluble solids, titratable acidity and vitamin c might be attributed to the indirect effect of plant growth regulators (Auxins, Gibberellins, Cytokinins) in seaweed extract, in combination with bacteria and yeasts effect in Em1, which enhance the effect of plant growth regulators in improving vegetative growth, increasing leaf area and photosynthesis efficiency, consequently, accumulation of organic and inorganic compounds that are necessary for the cell life cycle.…”

“…To study the effect of foliar application of seaweed on Strawberry plants, [27] found that spraying seaweed extract at concentrations (1 and 2 ml.l -1 ) promoted all vegetative growth characteristics (plants length, Leaves number, Leaf area, Fresh and dry weight of shoots and roots). On the other hand, foliar application of seaweed (Algren) at a concentration of 2 ml.l -1 increased carbohydrate content, phosphorous and potassium content, Fruits weight and quality and total soluble Solids (TSS) and titratable acidity (TA).…”

“…Maximum duration of fruiting in strawberry was noted Rueda et al (2016), Todeschini et al (2018) and Meena et al (2019). Rajesh et al (2012) and Einizadeh and Shokouhian (2018) were found the same results.…”
