This study was aimed to investigate the effects of Cuminum cyminum seed aqueous extract on the function and histological structure of rat kidney treated with dibutyl phthalate (DBP). Eighteen albino rats weighing 190-240g and aged 10-12 weeks were used for this study which went on for 28 days. The rats were divided into three groups (each with six animals): 1st group: control rats were given food and tap water, 2nd group was given DBP (420mg/Kg. B.W.) with tap water and diet, 3rd group were fed cumin plant orally at a daily dose of (200 mg/kg B.W.) and DBP (420mg/kg. B.W.) was given with drinking water and fed with diet daily. Kidney and liver function parameters were measured and histological structure of kidney was examined. Results showed that DBP significantly increased creatinine, urea as well as liver parameters AST and ALT, while decreased ALP level, destruction, hemorrhage and inflammation in kidney. Cumin decreased AST and ALT level but increased ALP level and elevated kidney hemorrhage which concluded that DBP may cause oxidative stress for rat liver and kidney. Despite hepatoprotective role of cumin, it interacts with DPB and increases bleeding in kidney.

Diabetic mellitus (DM ) is a prevalent systemic disease affecting a human and animals. The effects of diabetes are devastating and well documented. The increased production and/or ineffective scavenging of reactive oxygen species (ROS) may play a critical role in the development of diabetic complications. Therefore, it seems reasonable that antioxidants can play an important role in the improvement of diabetes. So, use medical ozone to study if it can regulate the oxidative complications of DM .The study was carried out on forty eight albino females rats included six groups Group I (Control) : 8 female rats were injected IP with citrate buffer (0.1 M, pH 5) daily for 6 weeks ,Group II (MO ): 8 female rats were injected IP 1.1 mg/kg b.w of MO daily for 6 weeks ,Group III (DM): 8 female rats induce diabetes by injection IP with freshly prepared alloxan 150 mg/kg b.w in citrate buffer (pH 5), Group IV(DM+MO): 8 diabetic female rats were injected IP 1.1 mg/kg b.w of MO daily for 6 weeks, group V(DM + Insulin): 8 diabetic female rats were injected subcutaneously 0.75 IU/100 g b.w. of Insulin daily for 6 weeks ,Group VI(DM +MO +Insulin):8diabetic female rats were injected IP 1.1 mg/kg b.w of MO and Insulin injected subcutaneously at a dose of 0.75 IU/100 g b.w , respectively daily for 6 weeks. experimental study parameters include antioxidant enzymes assay and histology the study for pancreas.

Novel cuminaldehyde self-emulsified nanoemulsion for enhanced antihepatotoxicity in carbon tetrachloride-treated mice

Objectives Cuminaldehyde self‐emulsified nanoemulsion (CuA‐SEN) was prepared and optimised to improve its oral bioavailability and antihepatotoxicity. Methods Cuminaldehyde self‐emulsified nanoemulsion was developed through the self‐nanoemulsification method using Box–Behnken Design (BBD) tool while appropriate physicochemical indices were evaluated. The optimised CuA‐SEN was characterised via droplet size (DS), morphology, polydispersity index (PDI), zeta potential (ZP), entrapment efficiency, in‐vitro release, and pharmacokinetic studies while its antihepatotoxicity was evaluated. Key findings Cuminaldehyde self‐emulsified nanoemulsion with acceptable characteristics (mean DS‐48.83 ± 1.06 nm; PDI‐0.232 ± 0.140; ZP‐29.92 ± 1.66 mV; EE‐91.51 ± 0.44%; and drug‐loading capacity (DL)‐9.77 ± 0.75%) was formulated. In‐vitro drug release of CuA‐SEN significantly increased with an oral relative bioavailability of 171.02%. Oral administration of CuA‐SEN to CCl4‐induced hepatotoxicity mice markedly increased the levels of superoxide dismutase, glutathione and catalase in serum. Also, CuA‐SEN reduced the levels of tumour necrosis factor‐alpha and interleukin‐6 in both serum and liver tissues while aspartate aminotransferase, alanine aminotransferase and malonaldehyde levels were significantly decreased. Conclusions These findings showed that the improved bioavailability of cuminaldehyde via SEN provided an effective approach for enhancing antioxidation, anti‐inflammation and antihepatotoxicity of the drug.
