“…These cascades of events may start after the advent of tissue damage-here due to impediment to the vascular tree-even if followed by volume or pressure resuscitation, as demonstrated herein. Support for this contention can be obtained from cases of limb ischemia [38] and its reperfusion [29], aortic cross-clamping and aneurysmectomy [19,24,29,30,34,38], and other traumatic or ischemic events in humans [39,40], as well as during organ transplant [41] and renal decompensation [42]. Importantly, the linear magnitude of changes of XO and GSH also attest to the role of the pressure in generating stress injury in the various kidneys.…”

“…Preoperative treatment with antioxidants, as currently applied during liver transplant or heart surgery [39,40], could decrease renal tissue damage and enhance kidney recovery period. Such clinical studies will shed more light on the issue of antioxidant PNP renal function and recovery, and promote its amelioration.…”

“…In various experimental studies, MB's antioxidant, antiinflammatory and nitric oxide (NO)-blocking effects have been demonstrated [10][11][12] . MB has also been shown to protect organs like lung, liver and the intestines from I/R injury [13,14] .…”
