Purpose The purpose of this paper is to provide a comprehensive literature review on the application of information technology (IT) in Halal tourism. Halal tourism is a segment of the tourism business catering to Muslims in accordance with Islamic law, which has significant potential for economic growth and is an important export market for the global tourism industry. Design/methodology/approach Following the guidelines of Kitchenham, this study developed four research questions to achieve its objective. A systematic literature review was conducted using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses methodology, collecting and assessing 163 English-language publications published between 2016 and 2022, resulting in 18 relevant documents. Findings The review identified nine key research topics related to IT in Halal tourism, which are organized into three major themes: technology-enhanced Halal tourism, digital marketing and communications in Halal tourism and quality and satisfaction in Halal tourism. Originality/value This paper fills a gap in the existing literature by synthesizing the current research on the use of IT in Halal tourism. It also proposes potential areas for future research, such as developing artificial intelligence-powered applications for Halal tourism through the creation of a domain-specific knowledge graph.

The hotel industry is rapidly expanding, needing more employees. The high demand for employees may lead to tighter competition in the job market, increasing employee turnover. This study aims to provide statistical evidence about the role of job stress, job insecurity, and compensation in explaining turnover intention among hotel employees. Primary data related to hotel employees' perceptions were collected using an online survey. The survey involved 135 employees of Jakarta's five-star hotels. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) to test three research hypotheses. The analysis results show that job stress and job insecurity positively relate to turnover intention in the hotel industry, whereas compensation is negatively associated with turnover intention. The finding could provide insight for hotel managers on reducing employee turnover. It also contributes to the upward literature on the hospitality and tourism industry.

Government websites are important for providing citizens access to vital public information. However, many government websites are not well-designed, difficult to navigate, even out-of-date, and insufficient in providing information and interactive channels. Based on previous studies, website development often fails because it is oriented toward implementing a mandate without evaluating the website traffic and visitors. The evaluation process of e-government websites is essential for developing the performance and quality of the websites (Lee-Geiller & Lee, 2019). This study aims to evaluate the quality of Indonesian local governments. This study used a quantitative approach with a web quality 4.0 (WebQual 4.0) instrument for assessing the quality of websites. WebQual 4.0 consists of three components: usability design, information quality, and interaction services. Data were analyzed using decision tree techniques. The main finding of the study is that not all WebQual 4.0 components affect the number of visitors. The interaction service component is the most influential factor. The results suggest a website paradigm that focuses on visitors’ interaction. Visitors should feel they are well-served and engaged when using a website. This approach of interactive websites can employ popular social media platforms to offer real-time visitor interaction.
