The Effect of Winding Angle on Unwinding Yarn

Abstract: SummaryIn the production of fabric, the unwinding of thread occurs in the warping and weft insertion processes. In order to achieve low and constant tension of thread or yarn it is necessary to optimize the process of unwinding. Computer simulations are now in use for this purpose, so it is important to obtain a mathematical description of yarn motion. This article is devoted to the derivation of boundary conditions that considerably affect the form of the balloon. In this way, a mathematically well defined mo… Show more

“…In the realm of winding dynamics research, several models have been proposed to elucidate various facets of the process. Pušnik et al, in their study [45], explored the effect of winding angle on yarn unwinding, emphasizing the optimization of boundary conditions influencing balloon formation. They developed a mathematical model describing yarn motion during unwinding, incorporating balloon theory, Coriolis force, and the effects of gravity and tangential air drag.…”

“…There are more theoretical and experimental research publications in the literature related to balloon theory of yarn unwinding from bobbins, motion of yarn and yarn tension variations during unwinding. They are given in the reference list (Niederer, 2000;Stojilijkovic et al, 1997;Popova and Efmerov, 1970;Ma et al, 2001;Booth, 1957;Isakov, 1961;Alekseenko et al, 1972; 496 IJCST 31,4 Koryagin, 1972;Pusnik and Pracek, 2016;Fraser, 1992;Fraser et al, 1992;Ghosh et al, 2001;Wu et al, 2000;Spleiss, 2001;Clark et al, 2001;Pracek, 2007). Despite the practical importance, amount of experimental research investigating the effect of balloon length (or bobbin frontyarn guide distance) on yarn tension bobbin diameter relation was found to be limited as most of the research was conducted with only three different bobbin diameter and with limited yarn numbers and yarn types.…”
