Abstract: RA patients on stable treatment with low disease activity were able to perform an individually prescribed high-intensity, low-impact aerobic and resistance exercise without changes in markers of large joint health. Copyright © 2015 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

“…CRF improved by 13%, indicating a large effect and is consistent with findings from previous research [15,33,34]. Lower body strength improved by 54%, this is greater than the 30% improvement reported by Lemmey et al [35] and the 30.5% reported by Law et al [39] but is in line with the 59% improvement observed by Matsuda et al [36], who investigated the beneficial effects of a 6-week home exercise programme. Similarly, Matsuda et al [36] reported a 25% improvement in agility, whilst patients in the current investigation improved by 17%.…”

“…assessed eight RA patients and eight healthy matched control participants after performing 30 min of high‐intensity, low‐impact aerobic exercises and lower‐body RE sessions, 1 week apart. They found no differences between groups in acute serum COMP concentrations in response to exercise or over time, after the aerobic and RE sessions . In contrast, Hyldahl et al .…”

“…Studies that have explored this report mixed findings. In healthy young people slow deep knee bends did not result in an acute increase serum COMP (Niehoff et al 2010) and in rheumatoid arthritis patients acute lower body resistance exercise involving 3 sets of 8 repetitions did not result in a significant increase in serum COMP (Law et al 2015). In contrast, drop jumps in healthy individuals have been shown to result in a 5 significant increase in serum COMP (Niehoff et al 2011;Behringer et al 2014).…”
