The Evidence-Based Approach — A Personal View

Abstract

Police and Crime Commissioner, South Wales PoliceAt a recent seminar I asked the audience if they were serious about applying an evidence-based approach to policing and crime reduction. Of course, the response was overwhelmingly positive -it's like asking people to endorse motherhood and apple pie -but I see little evidence that many people understand what it would mean to put the principle into practice.
