The examination of the effects of 8-week plyometric training on some physical fitness parameters of women handball players aged between 12-16 years old
8 haftalık pliometrik antrenmanın 12-16 yaş kadın hentbolcuların bazı fiziksel uygunluk parametrelerine etkisinin incelenmesi

Abstract:
The aim of this study was to examine the impacts of 8-week plyometric exercise on some physical fitness parameters of women handball players aged 12-16 years old. 40 women athletes, 20-subject and 20-control group, participated in the study. While both group participated in the exercises regularly, subject group joined extra plyometric exercises twice a week. Before exercises pretest and posttest were applied.

For statistical analysis, Wilcoxon test was used for comparison of intra-g… Show more

“…Plyometric trainings are effective in soccer players' physical fitness values, in exercise group; strength, reaction, vertical jump and standing-long jump values (Ağılönü and Kıratlı, 2015), in lower limb (jump, agility and sprint grades) parameters of high school students, it was effective even in 6 week periods ( Asadi and Ramirez-Campillo, 2016), by the study performed on basketball players; it was found that there was a significant difference in the vertical jump performance in the experimental group (Bavlı, 2012), and it is detected that a strong relationship between the force applied to volleyball& handball athletes and the effect of plyometric trainings on explosive power (Cezar, et. al., 2013).…”

“…Similarly, Arslan [35] indicates that combined plyometric applications with other training programs improve sprinting ability. In another study, Agılonu and Kıratlı [36] found a statistically significant difference in the 30m speed values of the experimental group. In a study by Villarreal et al, [37] it was found that plyometric training combined with maximal strength and heavy resistance training significantly improved sprint and endurance performance.…”

“…In a study by Ateş and Ateşoğlu (2007) Cicioğlu (1995) found that there was a significant improvement in the back muscle strength parameter of basketball players after 8 weeks of plyometric training applied to 14-15 age group basketball players. Ağılönü and Kıratlı (2015) in their study with 40 handball athletes aged 12-16, 8-week plyometric trainings were applied. The post-test findings of this study, which examined the effect of plyometric training on physical fitness parameters, found that there were significant differences in parameters of back strength.…”
