The expression of miR-513c and miR-3163 was downregulated in tumor tissues compared with normal adjacent tissue of patients with breast cancer

Abstract: Background Breast cancer (BC) is the most invasive cancer with different subtypes that its metabolism is unique compared with normal cells. Glutamine is considered critical nutrition that many cancer cells, particularly BC cells, are dependent on it for growth and proliferation. Therefore, targeting glutamine metabolism, especially enzymes that are related to this pathway, can be beneficial to design anti-cancer agents. Recent evidence has shown that microRNAs (miRNAs), with a short length and … Show more

“…Functionally, hsa-miR-3163 played as a tumor suppressor. A recent study in breast cancer indicated that MiR-513c and miR-3163 were downregulated in tumor tissues, which might serve as tumor suppressors [45]. This is in line with the results of our research.…”

“…However, studies of liver cancer and cervical cancer have indicated that a low level of miR513c-5p expression is related to higher rates of local tissue invasion, lymphatic metastasis, and distant metastasis. 14,39,40 In summary, the miR513c-5p/CDK5/CDC25B axis in TSCC cells may be highly regulated. As an oncogene, CDK5 drives the occurrence and development of TSCC tumors and might serve as a biomarker for diagnosing TSCC and a molecular target for treating the disease.…”

“…6A ). Considering that decreased hsa-miRNA-3163 expression was previously reported in NPC tissues [ 26 ], we selected hsa-miRNA-3163 for further study. We also verified the MEX3A knockdown led to increased expression of miRNA-3163 in NPC cells ( P < 0.001, Fig.…”

“…Emerging evidence indicates that miRNA-3163 is downregulated and functions as a tumor suppressor in various cancers [ 26 , 34 , 35 ]. A previous study reported that miRNA-3163 exerted its tumor suppression function by downregulating TWIST-1 in NPC [ 35 ].…”
