The future of theoretical evolutionary game theory

Abstract: Evolutionary game theory is a truly interdisciplinary subject that goes well beyond the limits of biology. Mathematical minds get hooked up in simple models for evolution and often gradually move into other parts of evolutionary biology or ecology. Social scientists realize how much they can learn from evolutionary thinking and gradually transfer insight that was originally generated in biology. Computer scientists can use their algorithms to explore a new field where machines not only learn from the environme… Show more

“…Definition 9: Nash equilibrium which is known as Nash solution [35]. In game theory [36] it is an outcome in a non-cooperative game for two or more players that cannot be improved by changing the strategy of any player. Nash equilibrium is a key concept in game theory, where it defines the solution of non-cooperative games with n players.…”

“…Evolutionary game theory initially introduced the concept of fitness to study the competition and cooperation of different species or populations in an ecosystem. Since its emergence, evolutionary game theory has been widely used in the social sciences and philosophy to analyze interdependent decision problems faced by bounded rational individuals [46,47]. Wan et al [48] constructed an evolutionary game model of the government and an online car-hailing platform to study the dilemma of efficient regulation in the development of the online car-hailing industry.…”

“…Pharmacists can dispense over-the-counter medications for minor ailments, yet they require a doctor’s expertise for complex disorders. Similarly, while game theoreticians may heavily concentrate on mathematical modeling, this approach sometimes sidelines experimental exploration ( Traulsen and Glynatsi, 2023 ). This dynamic interaction between game theoreticians and evolutionary biologists is noteworthy.…”
