The Involvement of Long Non-Coding RNAs in Glioma: From Early Detection to Immunotherapy

Abstract: Glioma is a brain tumor that arises in the central nervous system and is categorized according to histology and molecular genetic characteristics. Long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are RNAs longer than 200 nucleotides in length. They have been reported to influence significant events such as carcinogenesis, progression, and increased treatment resistance on glioma cells. Long non-coding RNAs promote cell proliferation, migration, epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition and invasion in glioma cells. Various significa… Show more

“…In the last decade, a number of researchers had reported that lncRNAs played important roles in various biological activities, including the immunologic process [ 25 ]. The current study is the first to report the transcriptome profiling of lncRNAs and mRNA in mouse spleens vaccinated with PPV23.…”

“…Many previous studies have confirmed that multifarious signaling pathways and regulatory mechanisms are involved in the regulation of immunity [ 25 ]. In the present study, GO terms and KEGG pathways analyses were performed to further explore the biological functions of the target genes of identified immune-related DE mRNAs and DE lncRNAs in mouse spleens.…”

“…RNAs can regulate each other through binding relationships [ 43 ], which mainly depend on the structure of the RNA and the base sequence [ 44 ] and are relatively stable [ 45 ]. For the RNA layer, we therefore used the binding relationship between RNAs.…”

“…LncRNAs are involved in glioma initiation, progression, and infiltration/invasion processes [ 80 , 85 , 86 ]. These molecules are implicated in glioma progression by regulating the cellular proliferation, apoptosis, differentiation, stem-cell self-renewal, and response to hypoxic stress.…”
