The joint probability distribution function of structure factors with rational indices. V. The estimates

Abstract: The probabilistic formulae [Giacovazzo, Siliqi & Ferna  ndez-Castan Ä o (1999). Acta Cryst. A55, 512±524] relating standard and half-integral index re¯ections are modi®ed for practical applications. The experimental tests prove the reliability of the probabilistic relationships. The approach is further developed to explore whether the moduli of the half-integral index re¯ections can be evaluated in the absence of phase information; i.e. by exploiting the moduli of the standard re¯ections only. The ®nal formul… Show more

“…Next, the formulae were modi¢ed for practical applications and evaluated against test data from real experiments, including an orthorhombic dataset. 130 Finally (for this year), the probabilistic formulae describing the relationship between standard (i.e., integral) and mixed-type (i.e., containing integral and half-integral values) indices were derived. 131 It was also shown that the values of triplets involving structure factors with rational indices can form quasi-invariants, i.e., their value does not depend on the choice of origin.…”
