The Large Flap Sculptured Facelift

Abstract: The large flap sculptured facelift is a redraping rather than a pinching or pulling operation. The skin flaps are redraped over the tightened, sculptured underlying fat-musculoaponeurosis. This procedure can be performed on a majority of patients with minimal complications.

“…[2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] Moreover, neither of these more invasive approaches have proved to be more successful in producing longer lasting results compared to ''conservative face-lifting'' approach as described by Webster et al [10][11][12][13] Recently, Saylan's S-lift approach gained popularity because of its limited undermining with short recovery and effective rejuvenation mainly limited to the jowl and submental areas, with some midfacial rejuvenation. Many of these approaches are gradually falling out of favor for a number of reasons.…”

“…These approaches involved deep plane, extended supraplatysmal, transblephroplasty, composite, and endoscopic techniques of facelifting. [2][3][4][5][6][7][8][9] Moreover, neither of these more invasive approaches have proved to be more successful in producing longer lasting results compared to ''conservative face-lifting'' approach as described by Webster et al [10][11][12][13] Recently, Saylan's S-lift approach gained popularity because of its limited undermining with short recovery and effective rejuvenation mainly limited to the jowl and submental areas, with some midfacial rejuvenation. [14][15][16] In contrast, the approach described here is primarily focused on the midface, and in selected patients, the midface vector correction can be beneficial without neck dissection.…”

“…The traditional approaches of extensive undermining involving deep plane, extended supraplatysmal plane, transblephroplasty, endoscopic, and composite methods are only to name a few. [7][8][9][10][11][12][13] These more invasive approaches to cervicofacial rhytidectomy have not been shown to produce consistently better or longer lasting results. Many of these aggressive techniques have extended the operating time, heightened the potential morbidity of the operation, and prolonged the duration of convalescence.…”
