“…The mango seed weevil is an important pest and the economic impact is primarily based on the fact that it is a major phytosanitary pest, restricting access to new Grové CABI Agriculture and Bioscience (2022) 3:44 foreign markets and contributing to substantial rejections of fruit destined for existing export countries (Louw 2013;Grové et al 2015a, b). A study conducted over two seasons in Limpopo indicated that 39.86% and 23.64% of 'Tommy Atkins' fruit were infested with mango weevil eggs if uncontrolled (De Graaf 2010).…”

“…Numerous studies have been published on morphology (Medina & Velascoz, 2010; SiTu & Yang, 1989), biology (de Jesus, 2008; de Jesus et al, 2003; de Jesus & Gabo, 2000; SiTu & Yang, 1989), and various management approaches (Abdulla et al, 2016; Braimah & van Emden, 2010; de Graaf, 2010; Louw, 2013; Obra et al, 2013; Pena et al, 1998; Peng & Christian, 2007; SiTu & Yang, 1991; Verghese et al, 2005) of these three economic important weevils. However, the molecular data of these pests are extremely limited.…”
