The Nitrogen Circulation Applied to the Cecum in Sheep

Palackdho u\.12, CSSR In the processes of endogenous nitrogen utilization, besides rumenohepatic circulation, enterohepatic recirculation has a quantitatively and qualitatively important role. Using intracecal administration ofr5N urea, it was established that urea entering the cecal contents was largely involved in metabolic circulation (807o) and in proteosynthesis in forestomachs. The appearance of ''N in rumen and duodenum proteins seems to be evidence of this. The experiments were carried out in wethers with fistulas of rumen. cecum and duodenum.The animals were fed a diet containing hay, barley and wheat bran and were kept in metabolic cages. After the administration of 706 mg of labelled "N urea into the cecum, the appearance of isotope in urine, feces, blood, rumen and duodenum content was investigated during 7 days.The quantification of metabolic pathways of intracecally administered urea nitrogen is shown in
