The salts NazSz06, Na~S206.2H20, K,S206, BaS206, and BaSZO6.2H2O were irradiated at room temperature with 60Co gamma rays. When the irradiated salts were dissolved in water sulfite ions, sulfate ions, and acid were found as irradiation products. The dependence of yield upon absorbed dose was studied. The G-values found ranged from unity to 20. Thermal annealing of the irradiated salts had only a slight effect on product yields. For BaS206 there is a large increase in product yields after a dose of 28.3 x loZ2 eV per mol has been absorbed. A mechanism involving SO3-and S206-radical ions is proposed.Les sels Na,S,O,, NazS2O6.2Hz0, K2S206, BaSZ06, et BaS206.2H20 furent irradiks, a la tempkrature de la piece, avec des rayons gamma du 60Co. Les valeurs de G trouvkes se situaient entre 1 et 20. Le recuit thermique des sels irradies eut seulement un petit effet sur les rendements des produits. Pour BaS2O6 il y a une grande augmentation des rendements des produits apres I'absorption d'une dose de 28.3 x loZZ eV par mol. Un mkanisme impliquant les ions radicalaires SO3-et S206-est propose.
