The optimization of extraction process of white mulberry leaves and the characteristic bioactive properties its powder extract

Abstract: Summary Introduction: Powder extracts from white mulberry leaves (Morus alba L.) are desirable due to their simplicity of use. Powders intended for use in food and dietary supplements can be obtained by various methods, including water extraction and spray drying. Objective: The aim of the work was to optimize the aqueous process of extraction of white mulberry leaves and characterization of bioactive properties of the obtained extract powder. Methods: The DNJ and flavonoids (quercetin, kaempferol) contents an… Show more

“…However, it was higher compared to our study and significantly influenced the ability of these extracts to reduce free DPPH radicals. On the other hand, the total polyphenol content in the powdered extracts from white mulberry leaves from Poland was similar to the values obtained in our experiment and amounted to 42.6 mg GAE/g DM [42]. Similar TPC values were also determined for leaf extracts of mulberry belonging to one of the three cultivars from the South China studied [21].…”

“…Anthocyanins have got attention as they possess diverse health potentials such as anti-inflammatory and antioxidant (Hu et al, 2017). Different anthocyanins have been identified and evaluated in mulberry (Przygoński and Wojtowicz, 2019;Smailagić et al, 2019). Mulberry anthocyanins have significant ability to inhibit lipid oxidation and migration of B16−F1 cells, showing antimetastasis activity (Lee et al, 2019).…”
