“…25 To evaluate the MDD from two adjacent peaks via the unique LP gauge, the valley edge of two peaks was changed gradually, to provide the quantitative assessment of its edge width in its original designation. Moreover, in contrast to a similar designation of water V-phantom for the nuclear medicine examination, 26 the line pair gauge offers the finest edge between LP to $ 0:026 mm (20 LP/mm), which definitely exceeds the distinguishable ability of most cardiac X-ray facilities. Thus, the MDD can be readily obtained, according to different confidence levels of success.…”

“…Thus, the revised Student's t-test analysis may provide a more accurate and reliable evaluation of the MDD by the quantified calculation. 26,27 3. Results Table 3 implies the original grades, averages, standard deviations (stdev) and S/Ns obtained by the three radiologists over three discrete rounds via Eq.…”

“…This study optimized the minimum detectable difference (MDD) of cardiac CT angiography (CTA) using three (50, 70, and 90 kg) PMMA phantoms and a V-shaped line gauge according to Taguchi's dynamic algorithm. Radiologists widely use the MDD concept for inspecting the imaging quality and quantify the spatial resolution of scans [1][2][3][4][5]. The MDD advantage over the conventional line pair per cm approach can be solidified in many aspects because MDD accounts for the distance between two adjacent peaks from SPECT (single-photon emission computed tomography) profile and the accompanied FWHM (full width of half maximum) of peaks.…”

“…In contrast to the above approaches, this study optimizes the gamma camera SPECT images by the Taguchi analysis, which proved to be efficient in radiological field. Yeh et al [12] first adopted this technique in nuclear medicine examination with a semi-quantitative phantom to optimize the imaging quality, while Kittipayak et al [13] applied this method to a simple selfdeveloped phantom to optimize the imaging quality of head and neck diagnosis in routine nuclear examination. The Taguchi analysis became a mature and robust tool providing efficient and confident solution with practical verification.…”
