The personal genogram: An interview technique for selecting family practice residents.

Abstract: The construction of a personal genogram was incorporated into the interview of applicants to a family practice residency program. The literature on utility of interviews is reviewed. The results of a survey of those medical students completing a genogram indicate it to have been a positive personal experience that also positively affected their perception of the residency program.
