“…In addition, natural products readily interact with biological targets, thereby exhibiting specific biological activities ( Lowe, 2014 ; Bauer and Brӧnstrup, 2014 ). Identifying natural product structure and studying biological activity are of great significance for drug discovery ( Chen and Song, 2021 ; Della-Felice et al, 2022 ). The discovery of anti-plant virus agents based on natural products is an important research direction in the prevention and control of plant virus diseases and has always attracted much attention ( Eckert et al, 2003 ; Carli et al, 2012; Katayama et al, 2013 ; Wang et al, 2015 ).…”

“…[2] Furthermore, phosphates of various small molecules bear important biological functions. [3] For instance, inositol phosphates are involved in numerous cell regulation mechanisms, [4] while phospholipids and phosphorylated polysaccharides are major components of cell membranes. [5] Additionally, phosphorylated prodrugs have been occasionally introduced in order to improve the water solubility of the parent alcohol-carrying therapeutic compounds and, accordingly, their bioavailability.…”

“…Similarly as for P(III) compounds, reactive P-[LG] derivatives can be used, e.g., P(O)Cl 3 (Jakubovska et al, 2018) or pyrophosphates (Dixit et al, 1981). Alternatively, inert phosphate esters can be activated using various condensing agents and applied in situ for phosphorylation (Della-Felice et al, 2022). Della-Felice et al (2022) have recently reviewed several phosphorylation methodologies.…”

Della-Felice et al (2022) have recently reviewed several phosphorylation methodologies. Despite the large number of known approaches, new phosphorylation strategies are being developed, showing a steady demand for phosphorylated compounds.…”
