Abstract:Oleaginous microalgae have become a focus for large-scale biofuel production due to their ability to accumulate large quantities of lipids. However, production is currently limited by cost and predation. At present, algal biofuel cultivation is optimized through starvation, supplementing media with nutrients, or genetic engineering; these methods can often be costly with little to no increase in lipid production or the culture’s defense. Investigating the phycosphere of algal-bacterial interactions may overcom… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
