The Preparation, Characterization, Mechanical and Antibacterial Properties of GO-ZnO Nanocomposites with a Poly(l-lactide)-Modified Surface

Abstract: Graphene oxide (GO) was employed for the preparation of GO-zinc oxide (ZnO). The hydroxyl group on the surface was exploited to trigger the l-lactide ring-opening polymerization. A composite material with poly(l-lactide) (PLLA) chains grafted to the GO-ZnO surface, GO-ZnO-PLLA, was prepared. The results demonstrated that the employed method allowed one-step, rapid grafting of PLLA to the GO-ZnO surface. The chemical structure of the GO surface was altered by improved dispersion of GO-ZnO in organic solvents, t… Show more

“…It seems to be one of the most promising strategies for developing robust and efficient photocatalysts [75]. It is for this reason that numerous carbonaceous supports have been reported for ZnO, such as graphene (G) [58,76,77], GO [78][79][80], rGO [81][82][83]. In Figure 11, the carbonaceous materials most used since 2016 and until 2020 were rGO, representing 48.68% of all carbonaceous materials used to synthesize nanocomposites.…”

“…The resonance signal for the proton of CH 3 group and CH groups at δ = 1.6 and δ = 5.2 were assigned to the repetitive units in PLLA. The end group of PLLA chains showed a resonance signal at δ = 5, corresponding to the presence of methine group nearby the end –OH group 22 , 23 . The 1 H chemical shifts of CH– of Gly, –CH of Ala, and –CH 3 of Ala were seen at 4.1 ppm, 4.48 ppm and 1.47 ppm, respectively 24 .…”

“…Tobías et al 413 fabricated the PDLA/ZnO (3 wt%) fibrous mats that exhibit a uniform morphology with an average pore size of around 45 μm and porosity of 55% for antimicrobial wound dressings application 413 . Electrospun PLA/ZnO nanocomposites impregnated with tranexamic acid were applied for wound treatment, as they displayed antibacterial properties and antifibrinolytic drugs that accelerate wound closure 414 . Yuan et al 416 grafted PLLA chains on the Graphene oxide‐ZnO surface disclose excellent compatibility and antibacterial properties.…”
