Abstract:The regularity of refinable functions has been studied extensively in the past. A classical result by Daubechies and Lagarias [6] states that a compactly supported refinable function in R of finite mask with integer dilation and translations cannot be in C ∞ . A bound on the regularity based on the eigenvalues of certain matrices associated with the refinement equation is also given. Surprisingly this fundamental classical result has not been proved in the more general settings, such as in higher dimensions or… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
