Abstract:RationalePulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is characterized by an increase in pulmonary vascular resistance leading to right ventricular (RV) failure and death. RV function is a major determinant of outcomes in this disease. N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) is a serum marker of RV dysfunction that is predictive of survival in PAH. We sought to evaluate the relationship between NT-pro-BNP and RV function as assessed by cardiac MRI (CMRI), echocardiography, and right heart catheterization… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
