The Risk Factors Analysis Occurrence of Chlamydia Infection to Direct Female Seks Workers (DFSW) in Indonesia

Abstract: Chlamydia infection is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections worldwide. Based on data of IBBS 2015 in Indonesia, the highest prevalence of chlamydia occurred in direct female sex worker group (32.21%). “…Most study participants (61%) did not have a history of vaginal discharge, but on examination, discharge was found in 92.7% of participants. This finding is supported by existing literature, which argues 70–90% of chlamydia infections are asymptomatic; 79 thus, negative history of vaginal discharge is not sufficient to rule out STIs, especially in high-risk populations. The median number of sexual partners within the last month was 20, with a range of 2–60 partners.…”

“…The median number of sexual partners within the last month was 20, with a range of 2–60 partners. Rabiah et al 9 found having more than five sexual partners was associated with higher risks of chlamydia infection. Pelvic examination with a speculum in our study found discharge in 92.7% of participants, cervical erythema in 70.7% of participants, cervical erosion in 43.9% of participants, cervical ectropion in 41.7% of participants, and cervical edema in 36.6% of participants.…”

“…Additionally, early life experiences and sexual behavior have been linked to negative effects on reproductive and sexual health among FSWs in Tijuana, Mexico (Oza et al, 2014). Moreover, a study in Indonesia identified various risk factors for chlamydia infection among direct female sex workers, highlighting the complex interplay of factors contributing to STD prevalence in this population (Rabiah et al, 2018). Overall, the prevalence of STDs among FSWs underscores the urgent need for targeted interventions, access to comprehensive sexual health services, and tailored reproductive health education to mitigate the burden of STDs in this vulnerable population (Rudi et al, 2020).…”
