The role of adsorbent microstructure and itspacking arrangement in optimising theperformance of an adsorption column
Abel Valverde Salamanca,
Ian M. Griffiths
Abstract:Physical adsorption takes place inside narrow pores where the attractive interac-tion between the surface of the adsorbent and the contaminant molecules is strongenough to retain the molecules. Adsorption columns involve a range of mass-transport mechanisms: advection through the free spaces between the adsorbentpellets, diffusion through the wider pores of the adsorbent, and adsorption at thesurface, where the narrower pores exist. The adsorbent specifications along withits assembly within the sorption column… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
