The role of language documentation in corpus-based typology

Abstract: Corpus-based typology refers to a set of approaches that use corpora to conduct language typology. The following sections are devoted to key aspects of this research agenda: Section 2.1 addresses the concept of 'corpus' in a crosslinguistic context; Section 2.2 looks at the role of language-internal variation; Section 2.3 addresses different aspects of language usage.
