Abstract:We present a theory of polarons incorporating the screening of the Coulomb interaction, and we apply this theory to the case of anisotropic ionic crystals as the perovskites. We show that the "screened polarons" cannot be treated individually: all the polarons present in the material are coupled via the screening. We also show that, in the frame of this theory of large-scale polarons, the bipolarons are excluded and replaced by pairs of polarons; we propose to associate the pseudogap experimentally observed in… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
