The Stability of Cylindrical Shells Containing an FGM Layer Subjected to Axial Load on the Pasternak Foundation

Abstract: In this study, the stability of cylindrical shells that composed of ceramic, FGM, and metal layers subjected to axial load and resting on Winkler-Pasternak foundations is investigated. Material properties of FGM layer are varied continuously in thickness direction according to a simple power distribution in terms of the ceramic and metal volume fractions. The modified Donnell type stability and compatibility equations on the Pasternak foundation are obtained. Applying Galerkin's method analytic solutions are o… Show more

“…According to [29], the DSC reports accurate results for the solution of problems considering orthotropic laminated canonical and cylindrical shells. In [30,31], the authors study the stability of a cylindrical shell composite with components of ceramic, functionally graded materials (FGM) and metal layers. these studies consider the thickness variation for the FGM layer.…”

“…Layered FGM structure are very import in practical engineering (Sofiyev and Avcar 2010; Sofiyev et al 2012; Ding et al 2014; Ding et al 2015). The research of thermal elastic crack problem in layered structure is helpful for the design and application of functionally graded materials.…”
