The State of Individual Objects and the Tourism Industry of the Baikal Region as a Whole

Abstract

The study analyzed the situation in the tourist market of Russia, the Baikal region and the city of Irkutsk affected by the pandemic, the closure of borders, and political instability. An analysis of the problems that have arisen due to the lack of a unified program of tourism development in the region is given. Now the work is underway to form an infrastructure capable of ensuring the all-season and multidimensional nature of the development of tourist flows directed to the Baikal region. The authors focused on new projects of major companies operating in the region that are able to meet the necessary needs faced by the industry. In addition to the regional center seen as as the «Gateway of Baikal», the authors showed the prospects of Baikalsk, Kachug, and Olkhon districts, as well as the whole region, as tourist-oriented and ready to receive tourists.
