The synergistic effect of Levilactobacillus brevis IBRC-M10790 and vitamin D3 on Helicobacter pylori-induced inflammation

Abstract: BackgroundOwing to the emergence and spread of multidrug resistance mechanisms in Helicobacter pylori, achieving a successful eradication has become exceedingly difficult. Thus, this study for the first time determines the effect of a combination of vitamin D3 and probiotic on the pathogenesis and treatment of H. pylori.MethodsWe established an in vitro experimental system using AGS human gastric carcinoma cells and explored the synergistic effect of Levilactobacillus brevis IBRC-M10790 and vitamin D3 on H. py… Show more

“…To confirm amplification specificity, a melting analysis and subsequent agarose gel electrophoresis were performed after each run. All reactions were run in triplicate and the results of fold change in mRNA expression were given relative to the control samples using the comparative Ct formula “2 -ΔΔCT ”, and the RNA input was normalized against the housekeeping gene β-actin [ 16 ].…”

“…42 Additionally, Vitamin D3 has been found to reduce the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as IL-6, IL-8, TNF-α, and IFN-γ, thereby helping to maintain mucosal integrity. 43 It is worth noting that these beneficial effects were diminished in the absence of the VDR pathway.…”

“…The blend of Lactobacillus shortus MVs and vitamin D3 lessens H. pylori attachment to AGS human gastric carcinoma cells, strengthens cell-to-cell connections, and diminishes H. pylori -induced inflammation. This combination holds potential as a novel therapy for H. pylori infection ( Nabavi-Rad et al., 2023 ).…”
