The Synthesis, Structure, and Supramolecular Chemistry of Anthracene Rings and Cages
Shinji Toyota
Abstract:Macrocyclic rings and cages were constructed by assembling anthracene units to create novel aromatic compounds. Key building units, 2,7─ dibromoanthrcene derivatives, were prepared by classical methods or using an improved method via the Hartwig─ Miyaura borylation. Tripodal triptycene units required for the cage structures were prepared by regioselective bromination. Macrocyclization of the anthracene units by the Yamamoto coupling afforded cyclic hexamers having disk─ shaped nonplanar frameworks. A hexameric… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
