The Total n‐p Capture Cross Section Measured at E_n = 25 MeV

Abstract

A b s t r a c t . The total cross section of the capture reaction n + p + d + y has been measured a t En = 2b MeV using a hydrogen gas target containing two multiwire proportional counters and a scintillation counter telescope. The resulting value dot = (26.6 & 1.6) pb is in line with the other n--p capture data in the energy range 14-73 MeV. The experimental data are compared with theoretical predictions. Messung des totalen n-p-Wirkungsquerschnittes bei einer Energie von 25 MeVI n h a l t s i i b e r s i c h t . Es wurde der totale Wirkungsquerschnitt der Reaktion n +p + d + y bei einer Energie En = 25 MeV gemessen. Gearbeitet wurde mit einem Wasserstoffgastarget mit zwei eingebauten Vieldrahtproportionrtlkammern und mit einem Szintillationsteleskop. Das Resultat dot = (26,G 5 1,5) p b zeigt keine markante Abweichung von der Tendenz anderer Messungen im Energiebereich IS-73 MeV. Die experimentellen Daten werden niit Rechnungen verglichen.
