Agricultural waste, especially from the use of fertilizers and pesticides, has become a serious problem in several countries because it has caused a decrease in river water quality. The land use and livelihoods of the people in the Kreo watershed are oriented towards agricultural activities. This study aims to (1) analyze the pattern of agricultural land use in the Kreo watershed and (2) analyze the impact of agricultural waste on river water quality in the Kreo watershed. The method used is descriptive quantitative. Analysis of the impact of agricultural waste on river water quality was carried out by laboratory testing of river water samples that referred to the criteria for water quality standards based on class according to Government Regulation of the Republic of Indonesia Number 82 of 2001 for class I river designation. Laboratory tests of water samples used parameters TSS, TDS, Nitrate, BOD, and COD. While the analysis of the status of water quality using the STORET method. The results showed that the pattern of use of rice fields was clustered upstream and in the middle, farmland was clustered in the downstream and mixed gardens were spread out in the upstream, middle, and downstream areas. The status of river water quality in the upstream and middle parts of the Kreo watershed has been lightly polluted, while the downstream still meets the quality standards. The river water will be harmful to human health if it is intended as a raw source of drinking water.

Many people use surface water for their daily needs. Reservoir water in Yeh Kori Embung is used for various purposes; however, there has not been an inspection of the quality and pollution index that allows contamination of the reservoir. This study aims to evaluate the quality and level of pollution of Yeh Kori Embung Water in Jungutan Village, Karangasem Regency. A descriptive design with a mix-method approach was used in this study. Water samples were taken at five different stations for two periods. Furthermore, physical, chemical and biological examinations are carried out and adjusted to quality standards. The results show that pH (5.2 – 5.4) is in the acidic category and does not meet the requirements while temperature (25.3oC), TSS (32.02 mg/L), DO (6.56 mg/L), BOD ( 1.36 mg/L), COD (10.4 mg/L), NO3-N (4.38 mg/L), Total P (0.021 mg/L), and Fecal Coliform (75.08 MPN/100mL) meet quality requirements. The pollution index (IP=1.085) is classified as lightly polluted. Yeh Kori Embung water does not meet the requirements of class two water quality and requires periodic evaluation and inspection. Gatal Lake is located in the Kotawaringin Lama District, West Kotawaringin Regency, Central Kalimantan, Indonesia. The government and the surrounding communities use Gatal Lake for recreation, irrigation, livestock, and fisheries. Geographically, Gatal Lake, is close to oil palm plantations and palm oil processing factories that contributed to water pollution, especially the pollutants originating from plantation activities in the form of largescale use of fertilizers and pesticides. This study aimed to determine the status of the water quality of Gatal Lake, Kotawaringin Lama based on the physicochemical parameters. The samples from five stations were analyzed based on the following parameters: temperature, TDS, TSS, pH, BOD, COD, DO, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, Pb, Cd, H 2 S, oil and grease, detergent, and phenol. The study was conducted using a purposive sampling method and determining the status of water quality based on Government Regulation No. 82/2001. The results of the physicochemical analysis of Gatal Lake showed that the water quality parameters which exceeded the water quality standards, are BOD (6.94 to 8.65 mg L), COD (9.58 to 15.7 mg/L), and DO (4.20 to 5.10 mg/L), while the parameters that did not exceed the water quality standards for Class I, II, III, and IV are temperature, TDS, TSS, pH, nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, Pb, Cd, H 2 S, oils and fats, detergents and phenols. On the basis of the STORET method, the water quality of Gatal Lake for Class I, II, and III are included in the highly polluted category, and for Class IV is in the moderate category.
