Abstract:Background: Sleep-wake dysfunction is an early and common event in Alzheimers disease (AD). The lateral hypothalamic area (LHA) regulates the sleep and wake cycle through wake-promoting orexinergic and sleep-promoting melanin-concentrating hormone (MCH) neurons.
