Thematic Section Guest Editorial: 24th Workshop on Aggression: International Perspectives on Bullying, Segregation, and Inclusion

Abstract

This guest editorial has three aims: First, the highlights of the 24th Workshop on Aggression are summarized; second some theoretical and empirical insights regarding bullying, diversity, and migration are outlined; and third, the four manuscripts accepted for publication in this thematic section of IJDS are shortly introduced. The 24th Workshop on Aggression 2019 was hosted by Norwegian Centre for Learning Environment and Behavioural Research in Education, University of Stavanger, Norway. The conference focused on International Perspectives on Bullying, Segregation, and Inclusion. After 40 years of research on bullying, we know much about motives, risks for, and consequences of bullying behaviour. “…Further changes to the Editorial Board and to the group of Editors of the journal will gradually be announced on the journal's website in parallel with the journal's conversion to APA7th guidelines and the journal's migration from the manuscript online tracking system "MSTracker" to "Editorialmanager". Previous editions of the IJDS have already been devoted to congress publications, such as the "Workshop on Aggression", for which reports on the respective workshop or papers submitted from the portfolio of papers presented have been published repeatedly in recent years (e.g., Beelmann & Lutterbach, 2023;Fandrem & Strohmeier, 2020;Scheithauer, 2019;Scheithauer et al, 2018). In the future, we will continue to offer scientific congresses with a thematic focus on developmental science the opportunity to draw attention to themselves in the IJDS.…”

Editorial

“…Previous issues of the IJDS have already published papers presented at the Workshop on Aggression in the form of a Special Issue or a Special Section, e.g. edited by Fandrem and Strohmeier (2020), Scheithauer et al (2018a) or Bondü and Scheithauer (Scheithauer, 2019). The current issue now available here also has references to previous Special Issues in the IJDS, such as a Special Issue on Extremism and Radicalisation (Scheithauer et al, 2018b).As editor of the Journal, I am extremely pleased with the high-quality and interesting contributions and wish all readers of the Journal great pleasure in reading it.…”
