Theoretical and Experimental Study on Contact Characteristics of Spiral Bevel Gears under Quasi-Static and Large Loading Conditions

Abstract: The precise mathematical model for the tooth surface and transition surface of spiral bevel gears is derived. Taking a pair of spiral bevel gears of a heavy vehicle as an example of calculation and analysis, a finite element model of spiral bevel gears transmission system is established. Through the finite element tooth contact analysis under quasi-static loading and high loading condition, the influences of torque on the root stress distribution, contact stress, and transmission error are discussed, and the r… Show more

“…The adopted construction, technological parameters, and operating conditions decide, amongst other factors, the efficiency, durability, reliability, and noise emission to the environment. There is a possibility of further generalizations and modifications with a detailed presentation of the technological method of making tooth shapes, referring, for example, to publications [29,30].…”

“…Many works have been done on the measurement error and its compensation method of the tooth surface of spiral bevel gear, such as coordinate measurement method [8][9][10][11][12] and tooth contact analysis method. [13][14][15][16][17] Fuentes-Aznar and Guo proposed a numericalanalytical approach for the alignment errors of facegears, and compensated the errors by adjusting the position of the shaper cutter to replicate the relative position of the pinion in misaligned condition. 18,19 Based on the geometric equivalent relationship, Tang and Lei investigated the initial selection and determination in error tooth contact analysis of spiral bevel gear, and then used the iterative method to calculate the initial mesh-point.…”
