Therapeutic exercise accompanied by neuronal modulation to enhance neurotrophic factors in the brain with central nervous system disorders

Abstract: Exercise is a primary therapeutic regimen in physical therapy to rehabilitate the motor function of patients with central nervous system (CNS) disorders such as cerebrovascular accident (CVA). Furthermore, exercise positively contributes to cognitive function related to neuroplasticity and neuroprotection in the hippocampus. Neurotrophins play a crucial role in neuroplasticity, neurogenesis, and neuroprotection in the CNS. Exercise enhances the expression of neurotrophins in the brain. Thus, novel regimens for… Show more

“…It has been verified that neurotrophins play a vital role in NSC proliferation, neurogenesis, neuroplasticity, and even BBB remodeling (Maejima et al, 2019;Yang et al, 2020). The present study showed that both LCH and BO upregulated the expression of BDNF.…”

“…Therapeutic exercise has been performed for such FM patients ( Andrade et al, 2017 ). Therapeutic exercise potentially stimulates the central nervous system ( Maejima et al, 2019 ) and muscular contraction (as part of the peripheral nervous system) ( Vlietstra et al, 2018 ), as well as cardiovascular ( Vlietstra et al, 2018 ), and autonomic systems ( Pearson and Smart, 2018 ). The exercise regimen contains either active or resistive exercises.…”
