Therapeutic Touch Has Significant Effects on Mouse Breast Cancer Metastasis and Immune Responses but Not Primary Tumor Size

Abstract: Evidence-based integrative medicine therapies have been introduced to promote wellness and offset side-effects from cancer treatment. Energy medicine is an integrative medicine technique using the human biofield to promote well-being. The biofield therapy chosen for study was Therapeutic Touch (TT). Breast cancer tumors were initiated in mice by injection of metastatic 66cl4 mammary carcinoma cells. The control group received only vehicle. TT or mock treatments were performed twice a week for 10 minutes. Two e… Show more

“…Additionally, the specific splenic lymphocytes were reported to be reduced after the treatment. Cancer results in increased levels of cytokines, which were was siginificantly reduced by the human Biofield Therapy [49]. As per the U. S. Department of Health and Human Services and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 34% of adults in the U. S. A. depend upon some kind of complementary or alternative health care approach, such as energy medicine.…”

“…Biofield Energy Healing has been succesfully reported in the case of cancer cell lines with respect to the inhibition of cytokine expression such as IL-1α and IL-1β levels [55]. Complementary and alternative medicine (energy therapy) has been reported with various benefits as compared with the conventional treatment approach.…”

“…Altogether, the study results suggest a siginificant effect of the Biofield Energy Treatment on the test formulation, which might be due to the electromagnetic field of the Biofield Energy Healers during the treatment. Biofield Energy has been reported to be an effective in cancer treatment by reducing the level of cytokines [47][48][49]. Besides, according to the NCCAM, 34% of adults in U. S. population depend upon some kind of complementary health approach, among which Biofield Energy Medicine is one of them.…”
