Thermal and electrical behavior of polyimide/silica hybrid thin films

Abstract: Silica‐containing polyimide films were prepared by sol‐gel technique using a poly(amic acid) and tetraethoxysilane. The poly(amic acid) was synthesized by solution polycondensation reaction of 4,4′‐oxydiphthalic anhydride with 2,6‐bis(3‐aminophenoxy)benzene and an aminosilane coupling agent, 3‐aminopropyltriethoxysilane. The properties of these films, such as water vapors sorption capacity, dynamic contact angles and contact angle hysteresis, thermal, and electrical behavior have been evaluated with respect to… Show more

“…The results are collected in Table 2 and a representative curve is shown in Figure 3. It is worth to mention that Kramers-Kronig relations and reflected spectra of thin films, in the spectral region of 400-4000 cm À1 , recorded by the near normal FT-IR reflection spectroscopy have been known as a method for the determination of dielectric parameters of solids [32,35,36].…”

“…The polymer films exhibited good thermal stability having the initial decomposition temperature above 450°C, glass transition temperature in the range of 223-228°C, and low dielectric constant in the range of 2.64-3.16 [32].…”

“…Typically, three relaxation processes are observed with increasing temperature designated as c, b, and a, respectively, with a corresponding to the glass-rubber relaxation. There are some reports, which refer to the characterization and analysis of the electrical and dynamical properties of polyimide hybrid films [36][37][38][39][40][41][42][43][44]. The properties of these materials are dependent on the interphase between filler and the polymer matrix.…”

“…26 There are some reports, which refer to the characterization and analysis of the electrical and dynamical properties of polyimide hybrid films. [27][28][29][30][31] The properties of these materials are dependent on the interphase between filler and the polymer matrix. Polymer filler interactions could produced change in α, β, and γ transitions of the polymer matrix since the amplitude of the relaxation depends on the chain flexibility of the molecules.…”
