“…In the complexes’ spectra, the band associated with the triazolopyrimidine core (1603 and 1605 cm −1 ) is shifted to lower wavenumbers in comparison with the free ligand (1612 cm −1 ). This behavior was also observed for other complexes with pmtp coordinated through N 3 from triazole ring [ 28 , 29 , 30 ]. The characteristic bands for overlapping ν(C=N) and ν(C=C) stretching vibrations of N-N-chelating heterocycle ring appear in the 1625–1635 cm −1 range.…”

“…The chemicals for synthesis of the complexes were purchased from Sigma-Aldrich (Darmstadt, Germany) (copper(II) perchlorate hexahydrate (≥99.99% trace metals basis), 2,2′-bipyridine (bpy, 99%), 1,10-phenanthroline (phen, 99%), 1-phenyl-1,3-butanedione (99%) and 3-amino-4H-1,2,4-triazole (96%)) and Merck (Darmstadt, Germany) (dibenzo-18-crown-6-ether, potassium superoxide) as reagent grade and were used as received, without further purification. The 5-phenyl-7-methyl-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5- a ]pyrimidine (pmtp) was synthesized by a method reported in the literature [ 30 ].…”

“…A broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity was demonstrated by [Cu 2 (pmtp) 2 Cl 4 (OH 2 ) 2 ] [26], [Cu(pmtp)(CH 3 COO) 2 ]0.5H 2 O [27] and [Cu(pmtp)(OH 2 ) 3 ](ClO 4 )3H 2 O (pmtp: 5-phenyl-7methyl-1,2,4-triazolo [1,5-a]pyrimidine) [28] against both planktonic and biofilm-embedded strains. It is worth mentioning the activity of all complexes against methicillin-resistant S. aureus (MRSA).…”

“…A broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity against both planktonic and biofilm-embedded strains, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), was demonstrated by a series of complexes of 5-methyl-7-phenyl-1,2,4-triazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine (pmtp) with the M(pmtp)X 2 moiety (M: Cu, Zn; X: Cl [ 30 ], CH 3 COO [ 31 ] and ClO 4 [ 32 ]). Furthermore, the Cu(II) species with mixed ligands, pmtp or dmtp and 2,2’-bipyridine (bpy) or 1,10-phenanthroline, showed enhanced activity in comparison with both ligands against several planktonic and biofilm-embedded bacterial strains [ 21 , 33 ].…”
