Thermal efficiency of a modified thermal storage wall containing phase change material in comparative test periods

Abstract: The article presents the results and analysis of comparative tests carried out on a thermal storage wall modified with phase change material (PCM) in a selected time interval. These tests were carried out in real climatic conditions in external research chambers. The same transitional period has been compared, two consecutive calendar years, 2017 and 2018. The months of March and April were used for the analysis, which are characterized by large fluctuations of temperatures between day and night. Based on mete… Show more

“…Preliminary studies using this solution were conducted under real climatic conditions. During periods of large temperature fluctuations between the external and internal environment, tests confirmed the reduction in fluctuations and stabilization of the internal air temperature in the test chamber [20]. Most analyses conducted on PCM-modified ceramic composites have mainly been concerned with external barriers without a glazing layer.…”

“…In any case of mold, corrective actions must be taken to eliminate the cause. When the problem of condensation appears in the barrier, various solutions should be applied to repair or modify the structure of the barrier [8,13], at the same time stabilizing the temperature of the internal surface of the barrier, and additives may be applied to modify this barrier [14,15]. Such solutions will also improve the indoor climate, reducing room temperature fluctuations.…”

“…In these walls, PCM is used in different places. It is placed in the masonry layer or in the cement mortar, creating a composite [30][31][32]. PCM can be placed as a separate layer connected to the masonry structure, located on the glazing side [33][34][35].…”
