Thermal Stability Criteria of Se80-xTe20Sbxin Terms of Characteristic Temperatures and Kinetic Parameters

Abstract: Thermal stability in terms of characteristic temperature and kinetic parameters of dierent compositions of glassy Se80−xTe20Sbx (x = 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10) have been investigated. Dierential scanning calorimetry under nonisothermal conditions have been proposed to investigate thermal characteristic of these compositions. The thermal stability of these glasses was obtained in terms of various simple quantitative methods based on the characteristic temperatures, such as the glass transition temperature, Tg, the onse… Show more

“…The thermal stability of chalcogenide glasses and its tendency of glass formation are the most important limiting parameters to estimate the utility of these materials for use in practice, such as specific technological applications. Thermal stability is the direct measurement of stability against crystallization and so the aging effects are found less dominant in the glasses having high thermal stability [8,9].…”

“…Thermal stability indicates on glass resistance to the devitrification of glasses during the nucleation and growth processes [7,8]. Apart from the utility, implementation of these investigations is also significant for the estimation of durability of the devices fabricated from these materials [9].…”

“…This may be a result of the increase of the lattice parameter and hence the unit cell size. Also the amorphous-crystalline transformations after annealing are responsible for decrease of the film optical gap [9,20,30,39]. Additionally, the steepness parameter σ characterizing the broadening of the optical absorption edge due to electron-phonon or exciton-phonon interactions [40] was also computed for the as-prepared film (T = 300 K in this film) and annealed films from the subsequent equation:…”

“…These applications are possible due to their smaller phonon energies as compared to oxide glasses and their better-infrared transmission [3,4]. Additionally, the light processes display the possibility of using non-crystalline semiconductors for wide technological applications such as xerography switching, photolithographic process, filters, modulators, scanning near field microscopy/spectroscopy, and more recently as reversible phase change optical recorders [5][6][7][8][9][10][11]. Many physical deposition techniques are available for the growth of As-S-Se thin films [12,13].…”

“…The soft iron still remains the best material for DC electromagnets, because its high saturation flux density allows obtaining an important magnetic flux homogeneously distributed. Also The Fe-Ni alloys, often called permalloys, are the most versatile from all the known soft magnetic materials [3][4].…”
